As a valued healthcare partner, we understand and appreciate the trust you place in Onyx to support your patients and staff. The health and safety of the Onyx community is our priority, and in light of recent news around coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to share what we’re doing to help protect our community.
Closely monitoring the situation and taking action. We’re following updates on COVID-19, including guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health officials. We have an internal task force dedicated solely to this issue, and we’ll continue to take actions necessary to help protect the community. Onyx has been in touch with nurses and drivers to make sure they have the latest guidance from the CDC on how to best protect themselves.
Helping with prevention. We’ve partnered with EO Products, makers of Everyone, to distribute more than 200,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies to drivers, at no cost to them.
Protecting our community. Specifically, if we are notified of a rider or driver testing positive for COVID-19, they will be temporarily suspended from using Onyx until they are medically cleared. In this event, we will also follow guidance from the CDC and local health officials to identify other individuals who may have been impacted.
Discuss transportation options. Per the CDC, if a patient or staff member has been diagnosed with COVID-19, or suspect they may have it, they should not use ridesharing, public transportation or taxis. In such situations, these individuals should speak with a medical professional to discuss transportation options that do not include rideshare. Please make sure your teams are aware of this guidance from the CDC.
Stay informed. The CDC, World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) are updating their sites with the latest information. For example, CMS issued new guidance for dialysis patients suspected of a COVID-19 diagnosis that requires transportation.
Ensure riders are practicing good hygiene. We’ve developed an online resource summarizing CDC guidance on COVID-19, including tips to stay healthy and what to do if you feel sick. Please share this guide with your patients and staff where appropriate and ahead of any Onyx ride.
